Roberts Settlement Volunteer Update
Haley Smith, raised in Carmel, IN, is a direct descendant of founder Hansel Roberts, daughter of Shanna Parran and Tracy Smith, and sister to Christian and Baron.
While attending Indiana University she founded a campus organization known as 'Base of Women', its purpose to provide networking, mentorship and fellowship for diverse freshmen and sophomore female students and offer resources and tools to support them in their college experience.
Haley has a passion for media arts and business. She has received accolades for her work as illustrator of a recently published book, "Makenna the Mighty". In her free time she enjoys taking on new projects, reading, and exploring.
With the Settlement being a part of history and her personal lineage, she feels great responsibility and excitement to do her part in honoring history. Haley is a volunteer on our Media Committee. Welcome, Haley.

We are honored to introduce you to one of our newest Grounds & Maintenance Committee volunteers, Daniel Gilliam.
After Daniel's 1993 graduation from Manual High School (Indianapolis), he served in the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years. He was deployed to Mediterranean Europe (France, Spain, Italy and Greece) and the Middle East (Israel, Saudi Arabia and UAE).
Daniel then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Korea. He was deployed to Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom) and Turkey (Operations Northern Watch and Enduring Freedom). After twelve years of service he retired as Technical Sergeant (TSgt).
Daniel is one of many ancestors and descendants to have served or who are currently serving our country. We thank Daniel for his service, discipline and commitment in the stewardship of our historic treasure.
Daniel is the son of Donna Gilliam, grandson of Maurice and Marie Gilliam and nephew of Marlene, Rebecca, Paula and Martha Gilliam.
