During the month of September (2018), Conner Prairie will debut a new play,
Black Pioneers: Roberts Settlement in 1836, along with a supplementary exhibition and live interpretation. Black Pioneers will tell “our” story, the story of free people of color who emigrated to Hamilton County from North Carolina in the 1830s.  The short play for ages 8 and up will take place each Saturday in September at 12, 1, 2, and 3 p.m.  The play focuses on the moment of arrival from North Carolina following the original settlers’ (Hansel and Elijah Roberts, Micajah Walden) purchases of tracts of land in the northwest section of Hamilton County.
